Sri Lanka was one of the higher rank countries for health & sanitation of the people of the children amidst Asia Rising food & fuel prices along with shortages of life saving medicine has led for a drastic fracture of health & well-being of the poorest and disadvantaged within the country More than 5.7 million people including 2.3 million children are disproportionately affected and requires urgent humanitarian services. The demand for higher nutritional level is at high end for early childhood, pregnant & lactating mothers and elderly.

The team Mother Charitable Foundation identified that most of the children, pregnant women & elders in coastal line of Moratuwa divisional secretariat face shortage of healthy food & essential medicines to continue a healthy life during this economic collapse. Our special regards to Dr. Lahiru Kodithuwakku and the team for giving their volunteer service for the project.

The Education Sponsorship Programme for Children infected and affected from HIV

Sri Lanka is at a threshold of an HIV epidemic where number of cases reported get significantly high every year. The gradual increase of the key affected populations including, sex workers, men having sex with men (MSM), injecting drug users has led the spread of the infection. Many HIV cases left unreported due to high prevalence of stigma & discrimination around it. The social issues bound with HIV caused violations of basic human rights & difficult access to basic needs. The children infected from HIV and especially the children whose parents are infected from HIV often do not get enough resources for good education, nutrition, health & hygiene.

Mother Charitable Foundation has identified 17 children infected and affected from HIV located in different parts of the country that does not get easy access for good education & other necessities. Respective children do not get assistance from any other organization due to shortage of resources and all of them got infected from their mother by birth. The government of Sri Lanka is in a strategic plan to end mother to child infection and the proposed sponsorship project will provide assistance for the education of the identified children living with HIV.
At present 17 education sponsorships are offered for identified 17 children infected and affected from HIV to cover their education expenses throughout the year. If you are interested you can be the reason for an innocent smile bloomed far away.
