Pathum Uyana is a residential centre for the education & skills development of children and adults with disabilities. The children are trained to improve their linguistic, daily routine, arts, dancing, singing, writing, arithmetic and vocational skills. The center facilitates physiotherapy and speech therapy for the children whenever applicable. It is located in Moratuwa, in the Western Province of Sri Lanka.
The children are provided instructive support to help socialization and to become independent, securing them a chance to have a dignified life. Pathum Uyana welcomes children and adults with disabilities between the ages of 12 and 40 from across the island to build their abilities for life.

Pathum Uyana is a residential center for education & skill development of the children & adults with disabilities. It is one of the major education projects in Mother Charitable Foundation & the center was established as a non-residential center in Aluthgama in 2011. The center was relocated to Moratuwa in 2021 as a residential training center, advancing the service delivered for the persons with disabilities.

Pathum Uyana facilitates following services for the children & adults registered at the center following to a need assessment at the beginning.

  • Art, Dancing and Music Therapy
  • Reading & Writing skills training
  • Physiotherapy & Speech therapy
  • Vocational Training
  • Day to day life skills training

The children are provided instructive support to help socialization and to become independent, securing them a chance to have a dignified life. Pathum Uyana welcomes children and adults with disabilities between the ages of 12 and 40 from across the island and at the moment there are 15 children with disabilities registered to build their abilities for life.

The Vocational Training

The management of MCF work towards refining their vocational skills with the intention of making the children with disabilities independent economically. The adult children in Pathum Uyana receives vocational training to make coconut shell pendants/necklaces, handmade key tags, pot plants, greeting cards and coloured clay lamps under the supervision of trained staff members. The children make various items at the end and during the training and the furnished products will be opened for the market at Colombo shopping festival and other local exhibitions organized by government/private sector organizations.

Pathum Uyana- Building Fund

Mother Charitable Foundation plans for a permanent shelter for Pathum Uyana as the present place of the center is a rented property. The management of MCF raise funds for the proposed building for Pathum Uyana with the intention of advancing the service at a permanent place. The children of Pathum Uyana is seeking support without any size or shape to have a permanent shelter for them.
